It’s the raining season and every single time you go outdoors you’re annoyed by those buzzing mosquitoes. These bloodsucking creatures bite you on your arms, feet, neck, ears or any other random part of skin that they find exposed. As a result, the skin becomes red and itchy at the spot of the bite.

1. Put on mosquito repellants
This is, indeed, a prevention method. Once you realize that there are mosquitoes in your vicinity, the best way to get rid of mosquito bites would be applying an insect repellant on your exposed skin. These are commonly available at departmental and medical stores. Furthermore, you can use bug sprays and mosquito nets in your house and also eradicate any stagnant water for sufficient prevention.
2. Wash the bite
As soon as you realize that a mosquito has bitten, wash the spot with soap and water. Side by side, wipe it with cotton dipped in alcohol. This will help reduce the itchiness and redness of the skin. You can also dip a washcloth in hot water and press it on the bite to confuse the nerves to diminish the pain.
3. Place an ice pack on it
We all have seen how some mosquito bites swell a lot immediately. An ice pack can relieve the skin and reduce that swelling.
4. Apply baking soda paste
Itching from a mosquito bite can be effectively lessened by applying a paste of baking soda in warm water. This is useful as it is an alkaline mixture. In addition to that, dabbing the bite with household ammonia can also be done.
5. Apply tea tree oil or lavender oil
These are anti-inflammatory and reduce the itching sensation. However, you should be conscious of which oil works better for your skin.
Tenderly rubbing a banana peel on a mosquito bite for ten to fifteen minutes soothes the skin because it instantly dries the skin. As a result, the itching stops.
6. Try the vinegar treatment
You can either make paste with apple cider vinegar and corn flour or make a liquid solution of apple cider vinegar with warm water. Apply this on the mosquito bite and let it dry for some time.You will observe how it will act as a good itch-reliever.
7. Apply calamine lotion
Calamine lotion is commonly used on itchy skin and for rashes because it contains phenol which is a disinfecting agent. You can apply it any time at the spot after the bite to end or at least lessen the irritation.
8. Keep calm and deal with it
Most important method to get rid of a mosquito bite is to be patient, not scratch the skin when it itches and deal with it till it goes away. This is significant so you don’t scratch the skin that it leaves marks. Meanwhile, you can use all the prevention methods possible to avoid another bite from the pesky insect.
