Tom Cruise is one of the best Hollywood actors to have performed for us in his at times deeply emotional movies. At other times his movies beat into us an action packed thriller that has our eyes glued to the screen for the full length of the movie. However it can easily be said that some movies of Tom Cruise are better than others, so here we go with a list of the top 10 best Tom Cruise movies ever.
10 Best Tom Cruise Movies:
10 – The Outsiders (1983)
Even though Tom Cruise’s role in this movie was not as substantial as the other characters. Tom Cruise created an aura about his acting in this movie that had the charisma and charm of a character playing in the main role. The movie was hilarious at times, and riveting at others, Tom Cruise added substantial amounts of effort and brilliance to this movie!
9 – War of the Worlds (2005)
Critiques to this movie are surmountable and at the start in a negative way. However as time passes by this movie becomes more and more sought after. A masterly put together depiction of alien invasion on our home planet of Earth is a very gripping and mysterious idea indeed. Stephen Spielberg and Tom Cruise in my opinion put together a timeless movie with only the horizon as their finish line.
8 – The Color of Money (1986)
A movie that nestles itself in as a timeless classic, The Color of Money is an amazing portrayal of effort, deception and a will to succeed. Being a sequel to a movie that was made decades ago, it was a very hard endeavor to undertake. Successfully bringing back that feeling of being able to succeed even when the odds are stacked against you.
7 – A Few Good Men (1992)
This movie deserves credit on bases of its intended suggestions. A Few Good Men, shows us of how leadership and command are the puppeteers to the actions of mere foot soldiers, and how protecting the rights of these foot soldiers is the duty of all those who command them. This movie puts emphasis on where it should and makes us think about how war and people have very suggestive ties.
6 – Interview with a Vampire (1994)
Vampire movies are a thing of the past, and Interview with a Vampire is a movie that makes it to that list. With titles coming out today that I will not mention as to not undermine this movie, I will gladly say that Tom Cruise played a role that was intended to be dark, evil and vicious. A light we have not seen him shine under much.
5 – Minority Report (2002)
An action packed thriller that had everyone’s hearts pounding in their seats, Minority Report was a great movie to say the least. With its science fiction genre, Minority Report depicted a future in which criminals could be caught before they committed a crime. Yet what would happen when one such enforcer was accused of a crime he was about to commit that had not yet been committed. Tom Cruise is one such enforcer and this is his story of how he dealt with that situation.
4 – Jerry Maguire (1996)
A truly inspirational flick indeed, Jerry Maguire shows us how the sports world can be a treacherous one. When one person becomes victim to it, he sets out on a mission to prove himself with the help of himself and one other athlete. What’s great about this movie is how once again, odds being stacked against you are just hurdles at the end of the day, whether or not you want to overcome them is your final choice.
3 – Collateral (2004)
A truly under rated film, Collateral depicts the story of a hostage situation in which life and death are separated by a very thin line. Tom Cruise must find a way to save his own life as well as another victim of this crazed contract killer who uses a cab to entice his victims.
2 – Top Gun (1986)
Top Gun is a very entertaining film to watch, letting go of the fact that it has a very crazy concept. Even though this isn’t one of Tom Cruises best performances, it can easily be said that this movie is riveting in the sense that it goes along with instilling the emotion it wants to in the hearts of the audience.
1 – Mission Impossible (1996)
This comes as no surprise; Mission Impossible is a timeless classic and probably the best work of Tom Cruise ever. This movie has everything in a very small package and Tom Cruise played the main role to fine precision. I do not believe that the majority of the people who watch Tom Cruise movies have not watched this one, or at least thought it was the best.
